Being Smart Won’t Make You More Successful In Business

When I start coaching people – I often find that they have a pattern in their life of needing to know everything in order to survive.

Many of my clients feel they must have all the answers before they are “good enough” to launch their business.

This usually comes from past experiences where they needed to have all the answers in order to be safe and secure. This may have even come in through past trauma in childhood or during school. Those experiences taught them that without having all the answers, they are inadequate and worth less than other people.

This pattern of thinking is a mindset block that hinders us from taking action in our businesses.

We are constantly trying to validate that we have the answers to every problem.

We are constantly trying to validate that we are smart enough to reach our business goals.

The truth is, being smart is only a hindrance to reaching business goals. I’ve never seen it help anyone and yet many people are constantly striving to have enough knowledge to reach their business goals.

What matters most is taking imperfect action and doing the very basic activities! You don’t have to know everything – or even how everything works, you just have to get started moving towards your goals.

We have to break up with our constant need for validation and approval from others and ourselves, based on how smart we are.

You don’t have to know everything to be successful! In fact it’s better if you didn’t!

You will be more successful by finding others who are smarter than you and working with them!

As a business owner, none of us have the mental capacity to know everything because we need to dedicate our energy towards what gets the most results.

Take swift action and make decisions as fast as possible. Even without all the answers. This is how you will reach your financial goals.

Saving Time When Building Your Business

I often hear people say that they lack time to build their business. I personally don’t believe this is true.

I think they lack the ability to prioritize their time, lack of knowledge for ways to say no – and often lack taking ownership for their choices.

This may sound harsh, but we have to move away from blaming outside circumstances for why things aren’t going how we want.

You are the one in control of what you do every day. You are not a victim. None of us are!

We all have the ability to shift and adjust our schedule if we want to. It might not be immediately, but it could be 6 months from now or even a year!

Some great tools that I use to help me save time when building my business are below:

HopperHQ: Scheduling app for scheduling my social media content. This allows me to open this app up and schedule all my content ahead of time.

Onestream.Live: I use this to schedule LIVE videos on Facebook and Youtube to go live every day. Then I can pre-record my content.

Calendly: This saves me time from back and forth scheduling with contacts and clients about what time I have available.

Virtual Assistant: Hire a VA to help you with the tasks you need help with that are repetitive in your business.

Conversion.ai: This is an artificial intelligence app that helps you write all your marketing copy! Get a free trial here: conversion.ai/free-trial?fpr=jeremykrak

After using some of these tools, the next thing you want to do is find out what to eliminate from your life.

  • What activities are you doing every day that you can stop doing?

  • What is sucking your time away that you could be spending building your business?

  • Why do you have to do those things every day?

  • What can you shift and adjust in your life?

When you get really honest with yourself about those questions, you will usually discover about 10% of your life that you can move around to make room for your business activities.

It’s going to take you time, but it’s worth it.

You’re not a victim or a prisoner to the amount of time you have in your life. It’s possible to prioritize things and shift them around to make room for you to build your business.

As a business owner you have to start working like a professional.

I’m always looking for ways to optimize my life and the time it takes for me to do things.

There’s no excuse for “lack of time” when optimization can save you hours.

We have to be intentional to create this optimization in our lives.

Make a choice to figure out where you can optimize your time and you will be able to get far more done in your business on a daily basis!

Successfully Dealing With The Opinions Of Your Friends and Family About Your Business

Everyone has opinions. It doesn't mean we have to listen to them.

When building your business, you're going to get many opinions about what you're doing from people.

You have to become really good at shutting out the noise from people who don't have experience and success, doing what you're doing.

People mean well - people you respect, friends and family - and they want to see you succeed, but they also don't want to see you get hurt.

One of the most important rules is do not spend time engaging with people who have negative opinions about what you're doing or try to knock down your dreams.

Seek out advice and wisdom from people who have experience doing what you're trying to do.

This challenges the way 99% of people live their life, always seeking the opinions of their friends and family.

Truth is, for you to be a successful business owner you're going to have to break free from your need to listen to other people’s opinions about what you're doing.

This may be hard but if you can grow in confidence and believe in what you are doing, you won’t need that validation.

They may convince you that you are neglecting them by not considering their opinion, you may even have family and friends angry with you and saying that you changed.

If you want to reach your goals as a business owner, you have to give up the need to be validated and approved by others. Even those closest to you.

I don't think you should end relationships with people close to you, but just leave certain topics off the table to discuss.

At the same time, find some people who are doing what you set out to do! Get some mentors and colleagues! Social media is a great place to do this, but beware - even people online present themselves as experts and really aren't. They just have many meaningless opinions.

Take a look at someone's track record. What have they accomplished? What have they done?

Has someone built a business to 7 figures like you want to - or do they just talk about it?

Pay attention to what people are doing, not just merely what they are saying, and learn from those who have done what you set out to do.

I've been helping companies grow to 8 figures and beyond for the last 17 years and would love to help you grow your business by getting more sales, leads, customers and clients online. How To Find Inner Peace Amidst Chaos In Business

Do you constantly feel like you are in a state of rush, hurry or stress?

With so much going on, these states of energy become our “autopilot” mode of operation in our activities, unless we intentionally do things differently.

And that’s truly what it is: intention to do differently.

The truth is, you will accomplish far more from a “peaceful” or “calm” state, than you ever will from a state of rush, hurry or stress.

“Peace” and “calm” are often words that we can quickly forget exist with so much going on in our lives.

With the constant hustle and bustle of life, and the need to get things done as quickly as possible, where is there time for peace and calm?

How can one exist peacefully unless they were a psychopath in these trying times?

The truth is, you neither have to be a psychopath or cease to “do” everything in your life to experience peace and calm.

Great things are accomplished from peace and calm.

We can train ourselves to be in that state during our days.

That’s why the saying “Anything that takes away your peace is not worth it”, is true.

We must prioritize our peace inside every single day, or life will take over.

We can either choose to be a victim of what’s happening in our life – or decide to live in peace.

With things going on our lives, it can be easy to just be tossed to and fro by chaos. But we can make the choice to have peace inside of us in the middle of chaos.

While it may seem as if we don’t have enough time to make our inner peace a priority, the truth is, we don’t have the time not to!

You will find that you will accomplish far more when you prioritize your own inner peace and take time for self care, than when you don't.

How do we do this?

1.)    Time in prayer

2.)    Using apps like Headspace for meditation

3.)    Going for a walk

4.)    Playing an instrument

5.)    Coloring

6.)    Playing a game (unless it’s frustrating haha)

7.) Legos / Playdough

These are some great ways to get reconnected. You don't want to be controlled by your thoughts. Ruminating in our minds about what’s not going our way – and constantly striving to “do more and get more done” leads us to have anxiety and stress.

It’s a choice to change what you’re focusing on. If you struggle to do this, getting help in therapy can be a great way to learn how to do this. Some of us have trauma in our lives that makes it difficult, and having a professional psychotherapist can help you learn how to control these thoughts and operate as your powerful self!

An app that I use for therapy is: https://www.betterhelp.com

A great app that gives you access to talk with people for free is: https://www.7cups.com (I used this before I signed up for therapy. Even though it wasn’t a replacement for it, it helped me a lot).

Ultimately, it’s up to us, to keep existing in “rushing, anxiety, hurry, stress” – which will ultimately kill us. Or we can choose to grow in the skill of maintaining our inner peace. When you do this, you will find that you will get more done, accomplish your goals faster by slowing down and taking the time to exist in “peace” and “calm”.
